Art of Kimono Dressing
Immerse yourself in more than a thousand years of Japanese culture and master the art of wearing kimono under the guidance of a certified kimono instructor. We offer lessons for all skill levels, both in-person and virtually.

Lesson Format
Select from beginner, intermediate, or advanced lessons based on your skill level, and choose either private or group sessions to suit your preference.
Beginner Level – $15/hour
Learn basic kimono wearing techniques such as how to wear yukata, casual kimono, hanhaba obi knots, and the taiko knot.
Intermediate Level – $20/hour
Learn how to wear formal kimono, including how to tie various obi knots, historical styling, modern fashion styling, and more.
Advanced Level – $25/hour
Learn how to wear women’s furisode kimono.
Private Lessons
A private one-on-one lesson with our licensed kimono instructor, Ara.
Group Lessons
A group lesson with 2-5 students, led by our licensed kimono instructor, Ara. Ideal for families and friends, each participant enjoys a 15% discount on group lessons.

In-Person and Virtual
We offer lessons both online and in-person, although we strongly recommend in-person sessions whenever possible. You are welcome to visit our kimono studio, or we can come to your home for a small travel fee.
Kimono Rental
There is an additional fee for renting a kimono during lessons:
+$10 for casual kimono
+$15 for semi-formal kimono
+$20 for formal kimono
The Process

Step 1: Contact Us
Before booking any lessons, please contact us to discuss your current skill level, goals, and preferred location and schedule. Once we have approved your starting lessons, you can return to this page to proceed with booking.

Step 2: Choose a Time
Please use the Appointment Calendar below to select a convenient time. Be sure to complete all required fields. For women’s kimono, we recommend booking two slots (a total of 2 hours, especially for beginners. If you would like a 1 h 30 min lesson, please contact us and we will adjust the booking manually.

Step 3: Make Your Payment
Once your appointment is confirmed, you must make your payment before the lesson begins, either online, or in person right before the lesson starts. We accept PayPal, Venmo, Cash, and Credit Card. Please note that due to the processing fee, hourly rates are slightly higher with credit card payments.
